Career Opportunity – Full Time Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department

HOURS: 7 PM TO 7 AM

REPORTS TO: Registered Nurse/Charge Nurse/Nursing Supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Skill and proficiency in applying the highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques which are central to the nursing profession. Such proficiency is acquired through completion of an Associate degree, diploma or Bachelor’s degree or BSN program in nursing. Knowledge of human growth and development necessary for assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the patient’s age as acquired through formal educational course work. Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Arkansas or through the Nursing Board Compact Agreement is required. AR Saves, CPR, ACLS, PALS and TNCC/ER are preferred.

Experience:

Basic knowledge of nursing management practices, techniques, and staffing as acquired through two years nursing experience preferred in an acute care hospital assuming a leadership or charge role. Knowledge of hospital and nursing department policies and procedures; performs patient care procedures, and technical equipment as acquired through an orientation period. To utilize the hospital’s electronic data systems, individuals must have average typing skills and be comfortable working with a computer keyboard and mouse.

Physical:

Normal hospital environment. Exposure to biological hazards. Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Lifting up to 100 lbs. Carrying up to 40 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 350lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for delivering, assigning, and supervising patient care for a single nursing unit and assisting the House Supervisor and/or Manager with the supervision and direction of employees and the management of material resources. Under the direct supervisor of the House Nurse and/or Manager, responsible for assigned unit/units, 1 shift. Incumbents are subject to overtime and call-back as required by the hospital. Directs work activities; assesses, plans, assigns and evaluates patient care.
