Piggott Community Hospital is currently hiring for a Medical Coding Specialist.

Education: High school diploma or GED required. Some coding experience and medical terminology are necessary. Coding credential preferred.

Experience: Two to three years of coding experience or coding certificate required. Credentials preferred. Requires six months of on-the-job training to become familiar with hospital policies and procedures.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for converting clinical documentation using various coding conventions into meaningful data. It requires incredible focus and attention to detail.

      • Assigns charges for ER/Tx Room, Day Surgery, etc.
      • Review unfiled claims reports and identify accounts to be coded.
      • Correct claims identified by the Business office that has been rejected for incorrect coding or medical necessity, contacting appropriate personnel when necessary to gather additional information.
      • Assign ICD 10 Dx Codes, CPT codes and HCPCS codes where Applicable using an encoder to assist.
